The NNZA brings together the research and innovation expertise of regional academic partners with the insights of our inductrial, private, public and thirs-sector collaborators Through this powerful alliance, the NNZA supports projects that:

  • Drive impactful net-zero innovations from concept to implementation.
  • Boost regional economic growth.
  • Equip the workforce with essential skills for a thriving net-zero economy.
  • Idea Translation

    This scheme supports early-stage research translation, helping to advance ideas from research to real-world applications. It targets innovative proposals that push technologies toward commercialisation or polcy development.

    • Funding covers prototyping, proof of concept, and feasibility studies (TRL/MRL/SRL 1-4) with grants of up to £30K for projects with a duration of up to six months.
    • Applications are welcome year-round.

    Commercialising Innovation Scheme

    This scheme supports small scale demonstration projects with an industrial, private, public and/or third-sector regional organisation to accelerate the commercialisation of research technologies (TRL/MRL/SRL 5-6).

    • Innovation Consortium Fund - Supports projects with regional partners, offering up to £55K projects lasting up to 12 months. This is the first of two annual calls.
    • Innovation Collaboration Fund - For projects with external partners beyond the NETH region, offering up to £55K for 12-month initiatives. This call is held once a year.

    Fostering Partnerships Scheme

    This scheme supports knowledge exchange projects focusing on SME growth, policy development, capacity-building. supplychain enhancement, and investment attractions to achieve regional decarbonisation goals.

    • Partnerships Consortium Fund - Offers up to £65K for 12-month projects with reginal partners. This is the first of two annual calls.
    • Partnerships Collaboration Fund - Provides up to £32.5K for partnerships outside the region, with typical project duration of six months. This call occurs once a year.
